From the moment I read an excert on this book I was dying to read it. When I finally got the chance and finally sat down with the book I couldn't stop reading! Within two days I'd finished the book and let me tell you, the hours I spent reading was well worth it,I simply couldn't put it down! This is a fabulous new author and I will definately be reading more of her books. If you want a heart felt, warm, sensual book, that will make you feel and love and cry, this is definately the book for you! A big thanks to the author for sharing such a beautiful story with all of us!

Another Amazing Story
I discovered Ms. Hooley's writing through the kindle discussion forum. Wow, am I glad I decided to give an independent author a chance. This is the 4th novel of her's that I've read. Each one leaves me in awe over her ability to bring the characters to life.
When Angels Cry is amazing, emotional, heartfelt. You care about these characters and what happens to them. Not sure what else to say, just wow.

Sojourner
Buy Sojourner, August 10, 2009
Buy Sojourner; you won't be disappointed. This is a creative and well paced supernatural romance that keeps you guessing until the end. The characters are complex and inviting, and as a reader I found myself invested in their story from start to finish. The romantic aspects of the book are similar to the Twilight series, but Maria Rachel Hooley has her own worthy story to tell in Sojourner.

One word: WOW, November 9, 2009
This is definitely one of the best series i have read. It ranks right up there with Twilight and house of night. Instead of writing about vampires ( which is getting tiresome) Maria Hooley went out on a limb and wrote about angels. She wove together an intricate web of characters that snagged me at the first chapter. Please, go ahead and buy these books. you definitely WON'T be disappointed.
The first book, Sojouner, is about a native american girl who is having problems with hate crimes when she moves back to the town where her dad was murdered. and on top of that drama, she is attracted to a beautiful boy who is definitely more than he seems. he keeps saving her life, while in her nightmares he watches her die.
Trust me, you'll love it!

Great new series, August 23, 2009 I am so glad I found out about this series on kindleboards. This first book really grabbed me from the beginning and it was hard to put down. I wasn't even finished with it before purchasing the second and third books. I liked how Elizabeth and Lev's story developed. Great introduction to a new series.

New Life Incorporated Great SciFi Twist..., November 11, 2009 Very compelling story and some great characters that you will really feel for. Excellent story development with some great SciFi angles. Very nicely done when the secrets of New Life are revealed. I saw Maria's you tube video before I started reading the book. I was confused about one of the main characters from the video - very nicely done secret there too.

I love this author and this is no exception! October 30, 2009
This is not my first book by Mrs. Hooley, and this one did not disappoint. I loved the characters, the sci-fi aspect, the plot and the interwoven pieces of humanity that made it real, such as love and regret. She grabs you from the start, and takes you for journey in all of her books. In this one in particular you are introduced to a world born out of her imagination, yet are drawn to the characters as if they were in your world. I recommend this book highly.

Not Run of the Mill August 8, 2009
All in all a good story with the classic good vs evil without having the run of the mill plot. The reader will be treated to phrases and characters that will stick with them long after the last page has been turned.

October Breezes
Couldn't put it down August 5, 2009
This book pulls you in and is hard to put down. Ms. Hooley did a fantastic job showing the depth of emotion in such a difficult topic.

October Breezes July 24, 2009
As an educator in the public school system I believe this book is a timely, critical examination of how abortion affects young women.

Real. Powerful. Emotional., July 13, 2010
October Breezes tackles some tough subjects faced by teenage girls with
raw honesty. Sixteen-year old Skye has trust issues, abandonment
issues, and struggles with her self-worth. She has always tried to push
people away, convinced they will eventually leave anyway. She has a lot
of issues to deal with but tries to cope the best she can, until an act
of violence almost destroys her world. Skye must find the strength and
courage to pick up the pieces and make the choice to move forward,
deciding who to trust as she slowly heals. The story is exceptionally
well-written and packs a powerful punch, I was moved to tears as my
heart ached for Skye. I think all teenage girls should read this book,
and parents as well.

The Mach Band Region
Goose Bumps November 5, 2009
This story had be on the edge of my seat on several occasions, and like other reads of Hooley's I was drawn to the characters, the plot and her knack for surprises and twists. I was genuinely spooked and enjoyed the elements of the story including love lost and love found! I recommend this to all!
--Joanne Harris (GA USA)
Compelling story September 20, 2009
The Mach Band Region is a different type of story than others I've read by Ms. Hooley. I didn't feel as strong of an emotional connection to the characters in this one, but the story telling drew me in. Its a fascinating story with twists I didn't see coming. It was hard to put down. I'd highly recommend it, along with others by Ms. Hooley.

Nicely Done! August 12, 2009
This third book provides a wonderful ending to this trilogy. This talented author brings it all together to finish up the series and even manages to give you the "warm fuzzies" of knowing that, in the end, everything ends up the way that it was meant to be.
I will miss these characters, as I have become attached after having read all 3 of them so quickly. I'm sure that I will re-read these - albeit, much slower the second time around. There is only one other series that I have ever wanted to re-read & that is The Twilight Saga. Ms. Hooley's books are definitely joining good company and will most certainly be read again!

Love This Series August 24, 2009
This is the third in the series and I loved it as much as the first two. I am looking frward to more from Miss Hooley, and especially the next in this series which is coming soon. I will have to wait to see what happens to Elizabeth, but so far so good.

A Sleep of Years
I was hooked from page 1 October 25, 2009
A Sleep of Years is a beautifully written story and impossible to put down. You feel like you are right there with the characters experiencing the storyline with them. I love a good tear-jerker and this doesn't disappoint.

A Great Love Story August 26, 2009
This novel hits both what it's like to love and lose someone and what it's like for someone you've known forever to become a soul mate. It's a beautiful story.

On The Road With Ollie
What a story! November 8, 2009
"On the Road with Ollie" is a story about journeys. The main character has lost her father, with whom she had a close and loving relationship. She is having great difficulty getting past his death, and her personal life is falling apart. Her job is complicated by the affair she is having with her boss and the sudden onset of tardiness. Her relationship with her best friend is marred by the friend's betrayal of trust.
When Katie meets Ollie, the others in her life begin to suspect that she's gone "around the bend." But slowly, Ollie convinces Katie that he is indeed real, that there is more to him than his unfortunate leather outfit, and he is able to convince her to take him on a road trip to attend to some unsettled business. As the trip progresses, Katie develops a real relationship with Ollie, and comes to depend upon him for direction. Meanwhile, Ollie is trying to "fix" Katie while ignoring some of the deep hurts he left behind in his own daughter.
The story of how these issues resolve will intrigue you. One minute, I'm reading and about to burst into tears thinking about the demise of my own father, the next I'm giggling out loud over some incredible experience of Katie's.
Good book.

Unforgettable Characters November 8, 2009
On the Road with Ollie is a beautifully written story about loss and learning to live again. The book is funny, sad, and impossible to put down. The characters are people you want to know more about. Even though the story itself has come to completion, I find myself wanting to know what happens now for both Katie and Megan.

The Only Life There Is
The book was a nice read.It gave a realistic portray of the struggles that parents face with
autism and their autistic child.It
showed the slow acceptance of the fact that their child had a disorder. It also showed how a family goes through
everyday life with a child who has autism, the struggles with the child, and
with their marriage. The balloon was a
nice addition because it shows how we celebrate break throughs with these
children.Just the simplest thing, as a
balloon, can make the most profound improvement in a child with autism’s
life. The book also showed how people
outside of the world of autism don’t really understand it as modeled by Kade’s
grandparents. If there was any draw back
to this book, it was the fact that the synopsis on the back gave too much
insight into the story line.It was too
much information, especially about Kade’s-- dying.

The Only Life There is December 7, 2009
This is a must read for any family dealing with Autism. I currently
teach in the public school system and have taught autistic children for
over 20 years now. This author clearly understands the impact autism
has on a family. Again, a must read.

The River
I am in the River November 3, 2009
I absolutely loved the concept behind this book, which I cannot reveal
due to it would be a spoiler. Once again Maria Rachel Hooley hits a
home rune with great characters you are vested in, a great plot that
grabs you from the start and surprises around every corner. I love how
she blends sci-fi, romance, technological thrillers and even religion
together in most of her books. She does not leave you with anything but
wanting more!

Talisman of Song
Beautiful and Sad October 13, 2009
This story focuses on a woman who has the power to change the world
through song, but the person she most changes is a king's son as he
falls in love with her. It's a wonderful story about love and
redemption. I really enjoyed it.

Second Sight
another wonderful book about Lev and Elizabeth November 9, 2009
I was sooo happy when i discovered that this was a trilogy! the second
book was actually BETTER than the first one. i couldnt help being so
angry at angel boy (lol) when he just left elizebeth hanging. but i
think it ended perfectly and left room for the third.

keep the tissues handy August 6, 2009
Wow! Another fantastic book by this author. The depth of emotions from
the characters really draws you in. I couldn't stop reading either book
in this trilogy. Now I'm sad that I have to wait for the third book to
be released.

Rising Tides
Sad but good November 26, 2009
This was a very gripping story of love in the face of something tragic.
I found myself drawn in by the characters, and the story. I was drawn
to the combination of love, loss and over coming life's challenges. I
found myself sad then happy several times for the main character, and
loved the ending. I enjoy a love story with a twist.

Silent Scream
Awesome book!, July 15, 2010
I found this book on Smashwords and read the sample. When I ran out of
the sample, I had to hunt down my credit card to get the rest of the
book. LOL. Such an amazing story! I love Gabriel and Maddie's
characters and their strength despite heartbreak and fear. I love how
Gabriel went above and beyond what any normal Good Samaritan would do
to help Maddie through her ordeal. He kept saying that anybody would do
the same thing, but I don't think so. Just shows what a good person he
is. And I love that despite Maddie's very rational fears and trust
issues, that she trusts Gabriel and feels safe with him. She has such a
wonderful friend in Yolanda and Becca was a good addition to the book
as well. I like when characters realize that they should treat people a
little better and discover friends that they didn't know they had.
Loved Sam and Tammy and their connection before Maddie's ordeal. The
emotions and actions are extremely well written and I couldn't stop
reading until the end. Loved it!

Dreamwalker
A wonderful page turner!, June 10, 2010
This review is from: Dreamwalker (Paperback)
Dreamwalker is a story that intrigues you from the start and holds you
to it's pages from beginning to end. You are thrown immediately into
the life of Misha who has dreams, or nightmares depending on how you
look at it, about two brothers; one of which loves her, and one who
wants her dead. She must struggle between real life and her dream world
and decide weather or not to risk her life for the man she loves.
Mrs. Hooley does a wonderful job of making this story suspenseful
and telling it from a teenage girls point of view. I highly look
forward to seeing if there will be a second book and will absolutely be
looking forward to Mrs. Hooley's next book! I absolutely recommend this
to any lovers of fantasy and romance.
